DPM asks for speeding up preparations of APEC 2017

VGP – Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh on June 28 chaired the fifth session of the National Committee for APEC 2017, which focused on reviewing works of the National Committee in the first half of the year and proposing measures for the second half of 2016.

The Deputy PM asked ministries, agencies and localities to identify crucial tasks as well as obstacles and difficulties to be addressed in the coming time.

He required launching preparations and completing organizational plans for activities of the APEC 2017 as Viet Nam will officially host APEC 2017.

Ministries, agencies and localities were asked to ensure the preparations for the APEC 2017 event in five areas in terms of agenda contents, materials and logistics, protocol, security and health care, communications and culture.

Through nearly 200 activities to be organized nationwide, the APEC 2017, the largest-scale diplomatic event of the year, looks to affirm the country's active international integration policy, enhances the effectiveness of the Party and State’ multi-lateral diplomacy work, and increase the status of the nation in the world.

The host of APEC 2017 also creates an opportunity for the nation to promote economics, trade and investment with other member economies in the APEC, facilitate development chances and deeper integration, and advertise the image of Viet Nam.
