The map is the database of about 40,000 vestige sites in Việt Nam, which will serve scientific researches and preservation work.

It consists of various multimedia publications, such as maps, pamphlets, pictorial books, CDs, VCDs, websites and some television programs on vestige sites.

The first phase of the project is scheduled to be concluded on the threshold of the millennium of Thăng Long-Hà Nội. The next phase will wrap up in October 2015.

In August, the photo-book “Vestige sites in Việt Nam” and the website “Map of vestige sites in Việt Nam” will be published in Vietnamese and English, introducing 2,950 national-level sites.

Some television stations, including VTV, VTC and HTV, will be invited to produce programs “Tours to pagodas in Việt Nam” and “Tours to pagodas in Hà Nội” within 2010. The documentary serials “Vietnamese Pagoda Journey” will be produced too.

As scheduled, on the 999th anniversary of Thăng Long-Hà Nội in October, a series of maps of Hà Nội’s pagodas will be published and a contest on historical sites in Thăng Long-Hà Nội launched.

According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trần Chiến Thắng, the "Map of Vestige Sites in Việt Nam" can be a useful tool for the State to manage the country’s tangible and intangible heritages and their preservation.
