Hungary regards VN as important partner in its foreign policy

VGP – Hungary regards Viet Nam as an important partner in its foreign policy towards Southeast Asia, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Szijjarto Peter told reporters at a press briefing in Ha Noi on Friday.

He said that Hungary was the first European Union country to ratify the Viet Nam-EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and will strive to become the first country to approve the Viet Nam-EU free trade agreement.

The European country planned to sign a framework agreement with Viet Nam, under which the former will provide €500 in a preferential credit loan to the latter’s projects on water management, food industry, healthcare among others.

According to Minister Szijjarto, Hungary will double scholarships to Vietnamese students under a renewed agreement inked on the same day.

Co-chairing the press briefing, Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh said the two sides discussed measures to further the bilateral ties in the time to come.

Both sides agreed to continue effective realization of Hungary-funded projects in Viet Nam and expand cooperation in such fields like security, defense, education and training, culture, tourism, agriculture, healthcare and environment.

They also expressed their pleasures at the bilateral cooperation at multilateral forums like the United Nations and ASEM.

Deputy PM, FM Minh took the occasion to extend thanks to the Government of Hungary for its support for the Vietnamese community to live and work in the host country./.
