National Committee for APEC 2017 convenes 3rd plenary session

VGP – Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh on Friday chaired the 3rd plenary session of the National Committee for APEC 2017 to review the committee’s performance in 2015 and devise a working plan for 2016.

After hearing reports from different subcommittees, Deputy PM Minh stressed the significance of 2015 in kick-starting preparations for the hosting of APEC 2017.

 He spoke highly of the efforts made by sub-committees in promptly completing their organizational structures and implementing effectively the roadmap on preparing for the 25th APEC hosting and related activities.

He emphasized that 2016 is a key year for completing all preparations with increased work volume and asked relevant ministries and agencies to speed up preparations on themes, priorities and tentative schedule for the APEC Year 2017 to inform relevant sides by the end of 2016 as usual.

Deputy PM Minh also urged relevant agencies to complete other related logistic and infrastructure preparations, including logo and publications.

To fulfill these requirements, relevant ministries, agencies and the subcommittee should complete specific plans with clear tasks and focuses while taking advantage of support from APEC members, APEC Secretariat, business community and international friends.

The National Committee, which was established in accordance with Decision No.1082/QD-TTg dated July 16 by the PM, comprises 25 members who are leaders from ministries, agencies and cities participating directly in preparations for the APEC 2017.

The next plenary session is scheduled to take place in March, 2016.
