VN to host Robocon 2007 final

VNGOVNet – The organizer of the 4th annual Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon 2007 Hanoi) proclaimed in the morning of December 15 that the theme for the next year's contest is "Hạ Long Bay Discovery". This will be the first time Vietnam hosts the final of such contest.

Robocon is the contest of robots initiated by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) in 2002. Annually, Robocon Vietnam is organized by the Vietnam Television (VTV) to select the Vietnam champion to attend the Robocon final of the Asia-Pacific Region. Vietnam's Robocon teams won the regional championship three times in 2002, 2004 and 2006 and ranked third in 2003.

Robocon Vietnam 2007 is scheduled from April 15 to June 3, 2007 in Hanoi to select two best teams from Vietnam for the ABU Robocon 2007 competition due for August 24-29, 2007 at the Quần Ngựa Stadium (Hanoi).

The Robocon Vietnam 2007 is marked by some new developments such as a website specifically designed for the game at www.robocon.com.vn; online technical and game-rule inquiries service; training courses provided to contestants in North, Central and South Vietnam; and VTV and FPT Company committed to help set up a technical support stand on the stage.

In the ABU Robocon final, FPT pledges funding a technical support desk inside the competition house for two Vietnamese teams.
