ASEAN FMs call on parties to exercise restraint in East Sea

VGP – ASEAN Foreign Ministers on Friday called on parties to exercise restraint in the East Sea while attending the 13th Ministerial Meeting of the ASEAN Political-Security Community in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Speaking at the press briefing after the meeting, Malaysian FM Datuk Seri Anifah Aman said ASEAN FMs reaffirmed the importance of maintaining peace, security, stability and freedom of navigation in the East Sea.

The regional FMs voiced their deep concern and urged parties to exercise restraint, fully and effectively implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) while quickening the conclusion of a Code of Conduct for the East Sea, he said.

Regarding anti-terrorism, the Malaysian FM called for maintaining determination and prudence in the fight against terrorism.

All terrorist acts are coward and must be vehemently condemned, he said./.
