VN-Japan Friendship Association in Hokuriku established

VGP – The Japan-Viet Nam Friendship Association in Japan’s Hokuriku region made its official debut on October 14 in Toyama city.

The formation of the association is aimed at strengthening ties between the Hokuriku region and Viet Nam through economic, trade, investment activities, cultural and educational exchanges, and human resources training.


Speaking at the event, the association chairman, Yoshiaki Matsumura, expressed his deep affection for Viet Nam and thanks to the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka for supporting the establishment of the association.

Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong expressed his expectation that the association and its members would participate in many activities to strengthen friendship, understanding and economic cooperation between Japan and Viet Nam, and between Hokuriku region and Viet Nam’s localities in particular.

On this occasion, Governor of Oyabe city Sakurai Morio announced a plan to lead a 15-member delegation to visit the central province of Thanh Hoa in mid-November as the first activity of the association.

The Hokuriku region is located in the northwestern part of Japan’s main island of Honshu. It is comprised of four prefectures: Ishikawa, Fukui, Niigata and Toyama, and boast a developed manufacturing industry and agricultural production.
