Consolatory letters and messages to Durian victims

VNGOVNet – More leaders of countries have sent consolatory letters and messages to Vietnamese southerners victimized by Typhoon Durian.

Being aware of the heavy human and material damage caused by Typhoon Durian to people in several southern Vietnam in early December 2006, the Presidents, Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of many countries, including Laos, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Mongolia, France, Singapore, Pakistan and others, have sent their consolatory letters and messages to State President Nguyễn Minh Triết, Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Deputy PM - Foreign Minister Phạm Gia Khiêm. The Durian-stricken victims have received financial aid from some countries. Also, Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad (including those in the US and others) have received letters and messages from a number of individuals, organizations and local authorities in the host countries.

These symbolize the good deeds of friendship and consolation to Vietnamese people dealing with Durian impacts. Vietnam shows its gratitude to the leaders and peoples of the countries for their sympathy and assistance to it in tough times.
