VN and Japan promote educational cooperation
VNGOVNet - During his October 2006 visit to Japan, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe committed to further bilateral relations in science-technology and education and training. To put the two PMs’ commitments into reality, a Vietnam-Japan Education Conference was held by the Hanoi National University in the morning of December 27, 2006 under the theme “From educational programs to practice.”

The Conference focused on some fundamental issues in the general education faced by the two countries, such as ethics education; application of physical culture to reality; and increasing pupils’ occupational self-orientation. After Vietnam entered WTO, there is urgent demand for dynamic, proactive, creative citizens who can quickly adapt themselves to life realities. Meanwhile, the country’s academic education is flawed. Japan's success stories of moral and physical education will thus be useful experience for Vietnam.
Under the frame of the conference, the Japanese delegation visited some Vietnamese schools. According to Mr. Sanada Noboru who has volunteered in Vietnam for more than a year, the close relation between teachers and pupils is something Japan could learn from Vietnam.
Prof. Dr. Ito Testuji, head of the Japanese delegation, insisted that the cooperation is two-way. He hoped that by studying Vietnam’s academic education, Japan can recognize its own problems.
