The conference reviewed the cooperation between the two countries’ ministries, sectors and border provinces in many fields (economy, trade, agriculture, energy, health, culture, social affairs, and tourism); work out orientations and measures for cooperation in the time to come; increase the understanding and confidence among Vietnamese and Cambodia leaders at various echelons; strengthen the cooperation between the border provinces, encourage ministries, sectors and localities to proactively cooperate with each other, fulfilling the border-marker planting between the two countries in December 2008.

The conference was held in the context that Vietnam-Cambodia friendship and cooperation are developed well with good results. Regular visits made by senior leaders of the two countries, especially the recent official visit by PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng to Cambodia, and the agreements achieved between the ministries and sectors over the past time are vivid evidences for the Vietnam-Cambodia traditional relationship under the motto "good neighborhood, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability" agreed by the two countries’ top leaders.

The border provinces play a role as the bridges and pioneers in building up and solidifying the two countries’ multi-faceted friendship and cooperation. Thus, the two governments always prioritize the cooperation among these provinces, especially in the common development strategies.

Addressing the conference, Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng confirmed that more than ever, Vietnam and Cambodia should further maintain, strengthen and promote their comprehensive cooperation in all fields to build up the two countries’ border area of political stability and socio-economic prosperity, meeting the local people’s demand, and contributing to the two countries’ common targets of construction and development.
