Electronic exports earn US $1.44 bil. for first seven months

VGP - According to the General Statistics Office, the total export value of electronic products and computer components in the first seven months reached US $1.44 billion, up 29% over the same period. The figure is expected to top US $3 billion by the end of the year.

Electronic products are the key exports in 2006-2010

These products have made great stride as its export value sharply increased from US $166 million in 2002 to US $2.15 billion last year.

Việt Nam’s electric products and computer spare parts have been exported to 40 countries and territories, including the European Union (EU) as a vast market with the turnover in the first five months was US $170 million, an increase of 38.6% over the same period of 2007.

The made-in-Việt Nam products are also seen in Thailand, Japan, China, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, and South Africa.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the sharp growth results from massive FDI projects in the field, including those conducted by such giants like Canon and Intel.

The Ministry will place electronic products and computer spare parts as the key exports in the period of 2006-2010, which can earn US $5 billion by 2010.
