The sector expects to export 150,000 tons of cashew nut with a turnover of US$ 800-850 million this year.

Cashew processing enterprises have invested more than VND 150 billion to equip about 300 systems for peeling the cashew’s flimsy cover, said Nguyễn Thái Học, Standing Vice Chairman of the VCA.

From the beginning of this year, Việt Nam has taken the leading position of the world in this technology with the number of clean nut up to 87% and only 6-7% of broken nuts.

The sector has nearly 220 cashew processing units with the total annual capacity of 600,000-700,000 tons per year.

Since 2006, Việt Nam has been the leading exporter of cashew nut, accounting for 40% of the world’s consumption. Việt Nam’s cashew has been exported to 40 countries and territories.
