New aluminum plant ground-broken

VGP – Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải, on July 26, chaired the groundbreaking ceremony of the Aluminum Factory in the Central Highlands Province of Lâm Đồng. This is component of the Lâm Đồng Aluminum-Bauxite Complex Project which is considered as the landmark of the development of Việt Nam’s aluminum industry.

Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải emphasized that the project will play an important role in developing a keynote industry as well as in the cause of industrialization and modernization in the Central Highlands

The Deputy PM required both investor, designer and contractor to closely work with each other to complete the project on schedule. He also asked them to pay attention to quality of the project, the training of human resource, and environmental impacts.

The EPC package (Engineering /Procurement / Construction) is the biggest of its kind as well as the most important one under the Lâm Đồng Aluminum-Bauxite Complex Project. It requires US $678 million. In the first stage from 2007-2010, the plant can provide 600,000 tons of alumina per year; and in the second stage, 1.2-1.8 million tons.
