Lowest CPI increase seen in July

VGP – The Consumer Price Index went up 1.13% in July against June. This is the lowest increase since the beginning of the year.

Lowest CPI increase seen in July

Ms. Trần Thị Hằng, Chief of the Section of Trade, Services and Price (General Office of Statistics) attributed the slowing-down CPI increase to the decreasing price of food (0.37%).

The price of foodstuff also rose up slightly, reaching 1.33% in July compared with 3.05% in June.

In July 2008, only the group of medicines and healthcare increased 2%, five groups up 1.02%-1.67% (education; garment and footwear; domestic utensils; other instruments and services; house and building materials); four groups below 1% (food and catering service; beverage and tobacco; means of transport and post; culture, sports and amusement).
