HCM City’s CPI decreases 0.36% in Dec.

VGP - Ho Chi Minh City’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in December reduced 0.36% against the previous month, according to the city’s Statistics Office on December 22.

The index witnessed a year-on-year increase of 1.65% (lower than the figure of 4.13% last year).

The slowdown in the CPI is attributed to the reduction in oil and gas prices. 

The transportation and postal costs recorded the most drastic decline of 3.54%.

It was followed by housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials with 0.95%, culture and entertainment services with 0.22%, beverages and cigarettes with 0.18% and goods and other services with 0.06%.

The posts and telecommunications price saw the highest increase of 0.7%. It was followed by food and restaurant services with 0.17%, garment, headwear and footwear with 0.14%, pharmaceuticals and healthcare services 0.06%, and household goods 0.02%.
