Exports to emerging markets rocket

VGP – Exports to emerging markets such as Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean escalated over the past nine months of 2014, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Viet Nam’s exports to African nations rose more than 50% compared to the same period last year. The nation earned US$466 million from North Africa, a year-on-year increase of 50%.

Main export items to the continent include computers, electronics and spare parts, phones, vehicles and accessories, machines, footwear, garment and building materials.

In the reviewed period, exports to nations in Latin America and the Caribbean reached US$25.22 billion, up 25%.

Especially, the value to Chile attained US$354 million, up 132.9% thanks to positive achievements stemming from the signing of a Free Trade Agreement in January 2014.
