Industrial production continues to grow in early 2008

VNGOP – In February, many industrial groups and corporations obtained a high growth rate and in the first two months of 2008, the industrial sector continued to develop well.

Industrial production value increased by 16.7% in foreign-invested sector

A brief report on industrial and commercial situations in February and the first two months of 2008 released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that the industrial production value reached VND 46,413 billion, going up 16% against February 2007.

Totally, the sector earned VND 99,287 billion in the first two months, increasing by 16.3% compared to last year.

The non-State sector gained the highest growth rate (17.8%), followed by foreign-invested sector (16.6%) and State-run sector (16.1%).

The top enterprises include the Electricity of Việt Nam (EVN) which got VND 2.2 trillion in February, Việt Nam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), Việt Nam Chemical Corporation (Vinachem), and the Việt Nam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex).

In the past two months, most of industrial products for production, consumption and export have increased in comparison with the same period last year, especially electric power, laminated steel, machine-tools, and diesel engines.
