VN, Japan hold high-level dialogue on agriculture

VGP- Viet Nam and Japan held their first high-level dialogue on agricultural development cooperation in Ha Noi on June 26.

The event aims to reach a consensus on the Viet Nam-Japan cooperative programme on developing Viet Nam’s agricultural sector in a comprehensive manner in the long and medium terms as well as devising concrete actions for the 2015-2019 period.
 
Addressing the conference, Japanese Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Hayashi Yoshimasa said Viet Nam has great potential for developing agriculture with favourable conditions in human resources, land and climate.

He noted that over the past time, many Japanese businesses have seen effective investment in this field in Viet Nam.
 
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Cao Duc Phat thanked  the Japanese Government for its active support to Viet Nam’s agricultural development  in recent times through technical support projects and research programmes.
 
Agricultural cooperation with Japan is of great significance for Viet Nam where nearly 70% of its population earn their living from agricultural production.

In the future, the two sides agreed to cooperate in science and technology, the application of new technologies in agricultural production, biology, processing and post-harvest preservation, especially in improving the value chain on food production,Phat emphasized.
