Party Chief asks for changes in anti-corruption

VGP – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on May 5 made a keynote speech at the national conference on anti-corruption, urging the whole political system to make drastic changes in the combat against corruption.

The Party Chief proposed five crucial missions, which need to be realized in the future.

Firstly, the Party’s regulations system has to be completed and legal mechanisms and policies on socio-economic management have to be supplemented and amended to fight against corruption effectively.

Secondly, it is necessary to intensify education and awareness campaigns to raise responsibilities of all relevant ministries and agencies and each Party member and people in combating corruption.

Thirdly, Mr. Trong initiated on the responsibilities of Party committees at all levels, the improvement of leadership, combat capacity and vanguard role of the Party and each Party member in anti-corruption.

Fourthly, the Party Chief asked for the closer cooperation between anti-corruption agencies to deal with corruption activities, especially big cases.

Last but not least, Mr. Trong required strengthening supervision work in the Party, the whole political and social systems, stressing the role of people in the supervision work in the fight against the scourge.
