VN promotes gender equality in social security

VGP – A number of crucial policies on gender equality has been launched to guarantee social security for people, especially women and girls.

Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen made the statement at a Policy dialogue on increasing inclusion of women and girls in the social protection system: a development priority, held on March 31.

Attending the event, Under-Secretary General and Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka said that social security is the foundation of gender equality in order to grant sufficient rights for women and girls.

Delegates discussed four fundamental policy groups of social security including guaranteeing minimum incomes and jobs, enhancing social insurance, social assistance and access to fundamental social services for women and girls as well as shared experience to improve women’s livelihoods.
