Launching 20,000-ton Vinashin Bay freighter in Hải Phòng

The floating dock named FSO-5 was built under a contract with the investor Vietnam Petroleum Technical Services Joint-stock Company. The project requires a total estimate of US$ 110 million and a design made by Poland. It has a total capacity of 174,000 cubic meters. The floating dock is an aerodynamic tanker with outside anchor-tower and a heliport.

On the same day, in Hải Phòng, Vinashin and the Phà Rừng Shipbuilding Company launched the 20,000-ton freighter Vinashin Bay. This is the first large-size ship designed, built and registered by Vietnam.

The building of oil tanker FSO-5 and high-tonnage freighters proves the growth of Vietnam's shipbuilding industry.
