The plan targets to control and prevent large-scale epidemics, build avian flu-free zones, and create a foundation to get rid of highly pathogenic avian influenza A (H5N1) virus in Viet Nam since 2018.
Under the plan, the number of avian flu hotspots would be reduced. By 2015, 60% of municipal provinces and cities would become low-risk areas. By 2018, 80% of provinces and cities would become low-risk areas. By 2018, the Mekong Delta would be free from avian flu.
The five-year project would get VND 132,804 million from the state budget to purchase around 220 million of doses of vaccines./.
