DPM starts Canadian tour

During these meetings, Deputy PM Ninh said that Viet Nam attaches importance to developing a comprehensive, stable and long-term partnership with Canada. 

He said both countries need to increase delegation exchanges and diversify cooperation in such potential areas as trade, agriculture, energy, oil and gas, science-technology, education, and labor.

The Deputy PM showed his desire for increased exchanges between the two countries’ legislative bodies and people’s organizations to promote mutual understanding and lay a foundation for stronger bilateral ties in the future.

Mr. Ninh also suggested the Government and Parliament of Canada pave favorable conditions for Vietnamese nationals to integrate into local communities and make a positive contribution to Viet Nam-Canada ties.

“Viet Nam backs Canada to reinforce cooperation with ASEAN and APEC member states, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region”, Ninh said.

The Canadian politicians hailed Viet Nam’s renewal and international integration achievements and confirmed Canada’s aspiration to foster ties with Vietnam in its Asia-Pacific policy.

Governor General David Lloyd Johnston acknowledged Viet Nam’s efforts in implementing Canadian-funded projects on judicial staff training, farm product quality improvements and financial reform, to help improve local people’s living conditions.

Canada wants to boost cooperation with Viet Nam bilaterally and multilaterally via APEC and Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) mechanisms, to increase their trade and investment in the near future.

At another meeting, Senate Speaker Noel Kinsella spoke of the great potential for cooperation in human resource training and new technology between Canada and Viet Nam.

Both sides exchanged views on other issues of mutual concern, and agreed to host more dialogues to resolve differences./.
