EC provides €11 mil. on healthcare for the poor

VGP – The World Bank in Việt Nam unveiled that it and the State Bank of Việt Nam just signed a Project on “Healthcare for the poor in the northern mountain and the Central Highlands” with a view to supplying more fundamental health services at the communal level.

The Project aims at improving health for about 3 million impoverished and ethnic minority people by giving them a package of health services, such as mother healthcare, anti-malnutrition in the community, child disease management and treatment, reproductive health, child vaccination.

The €11.45 million non-fundable aid from the European Commission (EC) will be under WB’s supervision. The Vietnamese Government pledged to give a corresponding capital of €1.4 million. The project will expectedly be carried out from 2008 to 2010 in Lai Châu, Điện Biên, Sơn La, Kon Tum, and Gia Lai Provinces.
