Cooperation with Italy and Syria boosted

VNGOP – Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Phạm Gia Khiêm had cordial receptions separately to Mr. Gianni Vernetti, Italian Deputy Foreign Minister, and Mr. Ahmad Amours, Assistant to the Syrian Foreign Minister. At the receptions, Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm confirmed that Vietnam wants to cement her cooperation with Italy and Syria.

Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm hihgly spoke of diplomatic results gained by Vietnam and Italy after the official visit to Italy by PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng in January 2007.

He expressed his hope that in the coming years, the Vietnam-Italy friendship and cooperation will be strongly developed, especially in trade and investment.

Deputy Foreign Minister Gianni Vernetti asserted that the relations between Vietnam and Italy as well as Vatican become increasingly close. According to him, Vietnam's entry into WTO is a good opportunity for Vietnamese and Italian business communities to boost their cooperation in all fields, especially in building infrastructure, houses, roads, airports, seaports, power plants, education and training.

The guest also revealed that Italy hopes to deepen all ties with Vientam. Italy will function as the bridge between Vietnam and the EU, he affirmed.

Receiving Mr. Ahmad Amours, Assistant of the Syrian Foreign Minister, Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm asserted that Vietnam and Syria should further develop their traditional friendship. In the near future, the Deputy PM said, the two countries should enhance infromation exchange and cooperation between their representative bodies.

Assistant Ahmad Amours lauded Vietnam's achievements in the cause of socio-economic development and poverty reduction. He said that these are valuable experience for other developing countries, including Syria, to follow. Mr. Ahmad Amours expressed his hope that Vietnam will continue to support and cooperate with Syria in the time to come.
