VN, Cambodia enhance legislative cooperation

VGP – The Vietnamese and Cambodian National Assemblies on August 23 in Ho Chi Minh City convened a conference to enhance their friendly cooperation.

The Vietnamese side participating in the event included NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, Vice NA Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son,Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee Secretary Le Thanh Hai.

The Cambodian side consisted of NA President Samdec Heng Samrin, Second Vice NA President Khuon Sudary and Vice President of the Senate Tep Ngorn, and Standing Deputy PM Men Sam An.

The three-day event is one of the major activities to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two neighboring countries and the Friendship Year of Vietnam-Cambodia 2012.

The conference also offers a good chance for delegates from respective NA, ministries, agencies, localities and people to share information and discuss cooperative measures to beef up their traditional ties and comprehensive cooperation. 

In his opening remarks, NA Chairman Hung said the conference marks a historical landmark in the cooperation between the two judiciary bodies and helps cement and deepen the bilateral ties between the two countries in the spirit of “fine neighborliness; friendly tradition; comprehensive, sustainable and lasting cooperation.”

He expressed his strong belief that the two countries will together build a united and powerful ASEAN in favor of common goals of peace, security, cooperation and development.  

For his part, the Cambodian NA President thanked the valuable support provided by the Party and people of Vietnam for his country and people.

Cambodia always regards Vietnam as a good neighbor, a good brother and a good partner, he asserted./.
