Taiwan remains the largest market for Vietnamese guest workers, followed by the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Macau and Arab Saudi.

Meanwhile, the US, Australia and the Czech Republic have become new promising markets with higher requirements for professional and language skills.

To raise the quality of guest workers to meet foreign employers' increasing requirements, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs just adopted a pilot vocational training project to train guest workers under orders.

The project is carried out within three years from 2008 to 2010 with total investment capital of VND 10 billion. Thus, manpower suppliers can request vocational schools to train workers for some hot jobs like welding, hotel and restaurant services, and health care.

Currently, about 500,000 Vietnamese laborers are working in 40 countries and territories throughout the world.
