Deputy PM Phuc applauded positive achievements in the Vietnam-Us relations, particularly in the fields of trade, investment, science and technology, education and training.
The US is now the 6th biggest foreign investor in Vietnam with total registered capital of US $11.65 billion. The two way trade turnover in 2011 reached US $21.45 billion, up 19.16% against 2010.
He also highly valued USAID’s support for Vietnam to address issues like climate change, sea-level rise and humanitarian activities over the past time.
For his part, Mr. Donald Steinberg affirmed that the US would help Vietnam to cope with climate change, clear post-war bombs, and provide assistance to agent orange/dioxin victims.
Besides, the US pledges to maintain strong assistance to other programs on such areas like HIV/AIDS prevention, science-technology cooperation and human resources training.
