PM calls for urgency in handling complaints, denunciations

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has called for improvements in complaint and denunciation procedures to help maintain political and social stability and development.

PM Dung said in an on-line national conference on the issue that the task of receiving people and handling their complaints and denunciation was an important task at all levels of State administration.

"Land programming and clearance resettlement or compensation, relating to infrastructure, transport and urban development, must be handled efficiently with the aim of preventing new complaints and stabilizing the country's development," PM Dung said.

Government Inspection department statistics showed authorities had finally resolved 1,052 prolonged cases relating to people's complaints or denunciations nationwide during the period 2008-11. There were still 528 unresolved cases.

He asked provinces and cities to review their procedures and the reasons for the drawn-out processes.

The Government Inspection department said that circumstances of the cases yet to be settled was complicated and pressing in many provinces and cities.

Complaints and denunciation cases relating to land problems made up more than 70 per cent of total cases, the department said. State administrative units had interview more than 1.5 million people and handled nearly 673,000 documents.

During the period, authorities had resolved 257,000 of 290,000 complaints and 33,000 of 39,100 denunciations. Nearly VND1,000 billion (US $48 million) and 1,241ha of land had been taken back by the State and 6,659 people had had their rights and interests restored. - VNS
