PM okays to increase loans for waterworks

VNGOP – Considering the proposal of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the PM agreed on June 19 to increase loans from the French Development Agency (AFD) from €20 million to €30 million and a nonrefundable capital from €1.5 million to €2 million for the project "Credit program for waterworks".

The PM entrusted the Vietnam Development Bank (VDB) to realize the project. AFD loans can be relent and the nonrefundable aid delivered to the VDB. VDB shall lend the water supply projects in the Mekong Delta provinces, prioritizing towns, network projects and capacity-increasing for borrowers and loan managers. The selected projects must be fruitful, meeting the demand for clean water of local people and fulfilling payment to the State.

The VDB, taking into account opinions from relevant agencies, was ordered to complete project documents, approve and implement the project under current stipulations. The VDB is also responsible for effectiveness of the project./.
