PM works with War Veterans Association

The PM asked the Association to take care of the spiritual and material life of its members and reinforce its organization from the central to local levels.

The Association’s Standing Vice Chairman Phạm Hữu Bồng said the Association currently has over 2.6 million war veterans, and more than 1 million former servicemen.

The members have helped local authorities in building and protecting the Party and the State, and assisted each other in overcoming difficulties to get rich.

The Association has effectively launched movements and charitable campaigns.

Last year, it built 5,539 houses for its members and reduced the number of poor veterans households by 29,500. Over 5,000 war veterans are holding the post of directors of enterprises, cooperatives and farms, which have created stable jobs for 200,412 people.

During the working session, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and leaders of the Ministries of Interior, Health, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs considered proposals of the Association, including issuing better policies to support victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and establishing hospitals designated for war veterans.
