More Russian tourists forecast to visit VN

In addition to popular destinations in Nha Trang, Bình Thuận..., Russian holiday makers are more interested in warm coastal cities nearing airports, Ms. Hoàng Thị Phong Thu, Chairwoman of the Ánh Dương Co. Ltd., said, noting that these tourist have often sent for information about Phú Quốc, and Côn Đảo islands.

At present, Russian travel agencies are bringing their customers to Việt Nam in chartered flights. “Our Russian partners are looking forward to the launch of an international airport in Phú Quốc,” Ms. Thu said.

Regarding the Russian market segment, she said the Vietnamese tourism sector can compete with Thailand’s if it strengthens promotion and improves service quality, including quantity and quality of tour guides.

According to the Việt Nam National Administration of Tourism, the country received over 109,000 Russian visitors in the first 2 months of this year, up 55.1% over the same period last year.
