Accordingly, the steering committee, headed by Deputy PM Dung, is responsible for assisting the Prime Minister in researching, directing and coordinating the addressing of tasks related to implementation of the industrialization strategy.

It is tasked with supporting the Government leader in setting out major plans and solutions to implement the industrialization strategy and proposing key tasks and inter-sectoral issues that need focused direction and coordination in each period.

The steering committee will report to the PM difficulties and problems arising in executing the strategy, as well as ask the Government leader to consider and devise solutions to those issues under his jurisdiction, aiming to ensure the successful implementation of the strategy.

Also, it aims to help the PM direct coordination among ministries and sectors in building and guiding the implementation of mechanisms and policies for the development of prioritized industries in the industrialization strategy, as well as in removing important inter-sectoral issues to facilitate the effective execution of the strategy.

The head of the steering committee is responsible to the PM for the operational content and efficiency of the steering committee; organizes and administers all activities of the steering committee, and assign tasks to the deputy head of the steering committee and its members; approves working programs and plans of the steering committee; and convenes and presides over regular meetings of the steering committee as well as deciding to call for extraordinary meetings when necessary.
