The project covers over 8 ha, with total investment of more than VND 1.7 trillion (US$ 73.19 million).

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Luu Xuan Vinh affirmed that the local authority always creates favourable conditions for businesses to land investments in the province, particularly those developing renewable energy projects.

Following the ground-breaking ceremony, besides working to ensure construction progress and quality, labour safety and environmental hygiene, the firm should prioritise local labourers in its recruitment plan, and join hands with the province to implement social welfare activities in the province, he said.

Director of Chinh Thang Wind Power Company, Lai Nhu Y, said that the plant was approved by the People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan province in December 2017.

The company has completed land clearance and compensation for the affected households in the first phase of the project. The company has also developed afinancial plan and signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the project, Director Y noted. The plant is expected to be put into operation in April 2020.

Chinh Thang Company hopes to receive more support from the provincial People’s Committee to construct an additional wind power plant with a capacity of 50 MW in the locality, he added.

Ninh Thuan province is envisioned to become a renewable energy centre in Viet Nam under the Government’s Resolution No.115/NQ-CP dated August 31, 2018. The province is hoping to attract wind and solar power projects with total respective capacities of 1,429 MW and 3,912 MW by 2030. To realise the goal, it is promoting investment attraction, and creating the best possible conditions for investors.

Currently, Ninh Thuan province currently has three wind power plants, namely Dam Nai, Mui Dinh and Trung Nam, with a total capacity of 116,925 MW, which generates a of total 900,000 KWh per day.
