WEF on East Asia 2010 opens in HCM City
VGP - The World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia 2010 opened this morning in Hồ Chí Minh City with the participation of 450 delegates, including many national leaders, government and corporate officials, and scholars around the world.
Delivering the opening speech, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng stated
that the forum’s theme “Raising the Leadership Role of Asia” is very
suitable to the current context of the region. East Asian economies have coped
with the global crisis fairly effectively, and are recovering at the fastest
pace, and functioning as the driving force for the world economy’s growth, he
said.

Amid
the crisis, regional cooperation in

Stating
that East Asian economies should reconsider their targets and priorities for
the post-crisis period, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng raised three big questions for them
to answer in order to further develop and play a bigger global role.

at national scale, what adjustments should be made for the current development
model to maintain rapid and sustainable economic growth?

To
play a more important role in the global economic and political system, each
member of the East Asian community should enhance their leadership and act
