The Result-based Scaling up Rural Sanitation and Water Supply Program will continue to be implemented in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong this year.

Approval for the continuation came from Vice Chairman of the Dak Nong Provincial People’s Committee Truong Thanh Tung.

The province will upgrade or build six water supply projects to provide clean water to over 7,600 rural households, upgrade or build sanitation facilities at 15 schools in the province, and improve local capacity to raise awareness about and monitor and assess the programme.

More than 94 billion VND (US$4 million) has been earmarked for the programme this year.

Funded by the World Bank, the program is being carried out in Dak Nong from 2016 to 2020 at a total cost of over VND 200 billion, of which over VND 184 billion is from WB loans and the remainder from the local budget.

It aims to provide access to clean water to more than 45,000 rural households and build 24 water supply facilities and hygienic toilets at schools and medical stations in the province.

Some VND 43 billion was disbursed for the program last year./. VNA
