April 11, 2014 5:10 PM GMT+7

The third development policy loan (DPL3) comprises of US$26 million from the International Development Association (IDA) and US$174 million from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).

The project’s general target is supporting the Vietnamese Government to develop a competitive power generating market, restructure the power sector, build a new electricity price list, encourage an effective competitiveness, invest promptly in the sector and boost rural electrification.

Specifically, the project will improve the capacity of power agencies, upgrade their database, communication system, enhance electricity transmission and distribution capacity and minimize the overload, congestion, pressure drop on the transmission and distribution grids.
