Voluntary youth campaign launched

The event drew the participation of local leaders and over 2,000 youth union members and youngsters.

Permanent Deputy PM Binh praised the sprit “for the people and for the country”, and the contribution of the youth to  the cause of national construction and protection especially via the voluntary youth campaign which has been organized by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union over the last 20 years. 

Mr. Binh stressed that 2019 marked the 20th anniversary of the summer voluntary youth campaign. The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union selected “Year of Youth Volunteers” as the theme for 2019.

He called upon the youth to uphold the sprit of voluntarism; generate new values; and contribute to national development. 

The summer youth voluntary campaign takes place from June to August, 2019, comprising a program on “Added strength in the exam season” and four voluntary campaigns including “Green Summer”, “Flamboyant Flower”, “Green Operation”, and “Pink vacation”. 

Voluntary Youth Campaign focuses on accomplish such goals as repairing and building new roads, promoting technology transfer, planting trees, supporting children living in difficult circumstances. 

The campaign aims to fulfill 13 basic norms including amending 3,500km of roads; build 800km of rural roads; transfer scientific and technological advances for 100,000 young members; plant at least 2.5 million green trees; provide free-of-charge medical treatment for 500,000 people; build 150 houses; supply start-up knowledge for 100,000 youngsters./.
