Vinh Long holds largest-ever investment promotion conference

The event, themed “Vinh Long – Ready for Cooperation and Sustainable Development”, featured the presence of more than 750 delegates,including government leaders, representatives from diplomatic corps and international organizations in Viet Nam, and a large number of investors, both at home and abroad. 

As a province with the second largest fruit-growing area in the Mekong Delta region and the fourth largest in the country with over 54,000 ha, Vinh Long is calling for investments in the priority fields of hi-tech agriculture; the farm produce preservation, distribution and processing industry; the construction and trading of infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters; culture-tourism; transport infrastructure; resort tourism infrastructure; urban infrastructure; housing; and trade centers.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Quang affirmed that Vinh Long always stands by and creates the most favorable conditions for firms and investors to do stable and sustainable business.

At the conference, the provincial leaders will sign memoranda of understanding on investment commitments, and grant investment decisions and registration certificates to a number of large-scale projects in the province.

Within the framework of the event, the four provinces of Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh and Tien Giang will sign a cooperation deal on implementing a project on connection in consuming agricultural products, promoting investment, sharing the management of environmental resources, and developing infrastructure and human resources.

* Also this morning, PM Phuc attended an inaugural ceremony for upgrades of the Vinh Long General Hospital, which consist of a nine-storey building totally worth more than VND968 billion (US$42.6 million).

Addressing the event, the Government leader praised the efforts made by the provincial health sector in focusing resources for the upgrading of the hospital, contributing to improving the medical checkup and treatment service for locals and reducing patient overload at hospitals.

He also agreed to spend the ODA loans (phase two) from the Austrian government on purchasing equipment for the hospital.
