VNGOP - Nam Triệu Shipbuilding Industry Company under the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin) started in the morning of May 03 the construction of the ever biggest floating dock of 150,000 tons.

Launching 20,000-ton Vinashin Bay freighter in Hải Phòng

The floating dock named FSO-5 was built under a contract with the investor Vietnam Petroleum Technical Services Joint-stock Company. The project requires a total estimate of US$ 110 million and a design made by Poland. It has a total capacity of 174,000 cubic meters. The floating dock is an aerodynamic tanker with outside anchor-tower and a heliport.

On the same day, in Hải Phòng, Vinashin and the Phà Rừng Shipbuilding Company launched the 20,000-ton freighter Vinashin Bay. This is the first large-size ship designed, built and registered by Vietnam.

The building of oil tanker FSO-5 and high-tonnage freighters proves the growth of Vietnam's shipbuilding industry.
