VNGOVNet – The PetroVietnam Transportation Company (under PetroVietnam) and the Vietnam Shipping Industry Corporation (Vinashin) signed on February 14 in Hanoi a contract on building three crude oil tankers of the capacity of 100,000 tons each. These are the biggest ships ever built by Vinashin for PetroVietnam to transport oil and gas products.

At the signing ceremony, Vinashin General Director Phạm Thanh Bình revealed that the international-standard ship has a length of 243 m, a width of 42 m, tonnage of 120,000 m³, and an overall capacity of 105.000 tons. The ships will be built at Vinashin’s Dung Quất Shipbuilding Factory.

It is expected that after 24 months, Vinashin will hand over the first ship to PetroVietnam and the two remaining ones after next 12 months.
