The fifth-generation (5G) technology, the next-generation of mobile network, is an opportunity for Viet Nam to leapfrog to become one the world’s leading information and communication (ICT) countries.

So far Viet Nam stands ready to participate in the 5G pilot in 2019, said Mr. Thang. He also hoped to receive frequency information in order to prepare for appropriate equipment and design.

In addition, Viettel has researched production of 5G broadcast station equipment and has established a research group in 5G technology development since 2015.

The military group targets to produce the first version of 5G station in 2019; pilot 5G network station by 2020 and offer commercial services by 2021./.
