Viettel sets foot on Peru

VGP - The military-run Viettel group on October 15 officially launched its telecom services under branch name Bitel in Peru.

Viettel set targets to bring high-speed Internet and telecom services to every citizen in the South American country, said Bitel General Director Hoang Quoc Quyen.

The launch of Bitel in Peru is a new step in Viettel has taken for its global development scheme. With 3G coverage and distribution channels over Peru, Bitel quickly obtained over 200,000 subscribers during the pilot period.  

Bitel is the only mobile network with 3G coverage over the whole territory of Peru and reaches nearly 80% of Peruvian population.

So far, Viettel has launched services in seven foreign countries including Laos, Cambodia, Haiti, Mozambique, Timor Leste, Peru, Cameroon and Peru.

The group also got business licenses in two other markets namely Tanzania and Burundi and is building infrastructure there./.
