Viettel, Huawei shake hands for first 3G HSPA+ network in VN

VGP - Viettel, the biggest mobile operator in Việt Nam recently signed a deal with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd, a Chinese famous telecom device producer. Accordingly, Huawei will help Viettel deploy High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) technology network nationwide.

July 15, 2009 4:21 PM GMT+7

According to Huawei, once coming into operation, the network will be one of the fastest 3G networks in the world.

Under the deal, Huawei will install 3,000 base stations in Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng and Hồ Chí Minh City.

With advanced 4-generation base transceiver stations (BTSs), the 3G network will allow Viettel to supply customers with extremely fast mobile broadband speeds, up to 21 Mbps.

In addition, the network will enable Viettel’s clients to enjoy better services, such as wireless broadband and advanced multimedia, even in densely populated areas or remote ones with poor infrastructure.

Earlier, Huawei and Viettel were successful in a joint program to bring wireless home phones to rural areas with a view to meeting communication demand of residents here./.
