Vietship-2008: 22 contracts worth of US $2 bil. inked

VNGOP – At the 4th International Shipbuilding, Maritime and Transport Expo - Vietship 2008, 22 contracts were signed to build and repair vessels, provide equipment, and transfer technology.

Vietship-2008 held in Hà Nội is one of big events of Việt Nam’s shipbuilding industry. It presented over 600 kiosks of 400 companies (two thirds coming from 20 countries with developed shipping industry, including the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands, Republic of Korea, Japan, and Germany), showing machines, equipment, technology and services.

According to 12 out of 22 contracts inked on March 12, Vietnamese ship-builders (Bến Kiền, Phà Rừng, Bạch Đằng, Cà Mau, Hạ Long) will build 59 cargo vessels and passenger ships as well as 6,600 new containers.

The attendants also signed several documents to supply, install and produce shipping equipment.
