Accordingly, Thailand will adopt a policy on labor cooperation with Viet Nam; both countries will discuss the cooperation, including registration and work permit issuance; and Thailand will publish specifically required procedures.

The registration and work permit issuance for Vietnamese workers in Thailand are resulted from the talks between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Thai counterpart Prayut Chan-o-cha held in Ha Noi on November 27-28, 2014.

To realize the agreement, the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs will carry out negotiations in March for a memorandum on labor cooperation between the two Governments.

On February 10, 2015, the Thai Cabinet approved a resolution on managing foreign workers bearing the Vietnamese nationality. Accordingly, Vietnamese citizens entering Thailand prior to February 10, 2015 to work can have one-year work permits and full benefits like local workers if they have Vietnamese passports and work as housewives or do unskilled work in construction, fisheries and restaurants with Thai employers’ recognition for the employment.

Relevant labor centers will be established in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Rayong, Nakhon Phanom and Songkhla provinces.

The Embassy and the Consulate-General encourage Vietnamese citizens working in Thailand without work permits to get ready for work permit license registration.

They will support the citizens in information and procedures. All necessary information will be updated and explained at vietnamembassy-thailand.org, facebook.com/VNEMBKK and vietnamconsulate-khonkaen.org.
