Vietnamese leaders receive Chinese State Council member

VNGOVNet – On November 11, Party General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh, State President Nguyễn Minh Triết, and Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng separately received Mr. Tang Jiaxuan, member of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China who is paying a working visit to Vietnam.

In a cordial talk with Mr. Tang at the head office of the Communist Party of Vietnam's Central Committee, General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh was informed by the Chinese guest of the establishment of the Steering Committee for Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation (SCBC) and its first session. The General Secretary was also told that the Chinese Communist Party and State regarded the committee's establishment as a landmark in the implementation of high-level agreements between the two communist parties and the two countries.

At a separate reception for Mr. Tang, State President Nguyễn Minh Triết said that the Vietnamese State and people always attach importance to consolidating and developing the relations of friendship and cooperation with China and are expecting the coming Vietnam visit by Chinese Party General Secretary and State President Hu Jintao to be a great success. Mr. Triết highly appreciated the establishment of the SCBC, saying he hoped for its effective operation.

Meeting with Mr. Tang, Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng welcomed the guest’s working visit to Vietnam. The PM hailed the success of the ASEAN-China Commemorative Summit presided over by Chinese Premier Wen Jiapao in late October and early November 2006. He also praised the result of the first session of the SCBC and expressed his hope that the SCBC will enhance the Vietnam-China cooperation more comprehensively, profoundly and effectively. PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng said that Vietnam treasures the coming official visit by General Secretary and President Hu Jintao and is striving its best to make it a great success. Vietnamese concerned ministries and agencies have been active in preparing agreements and memoranda to be signed with their Chinese counterparts in the field of economic and trade cooperation./.
