Vietnamese seafood is much favored in Europe

Between January and August, the export turnover to the Euro-zone stood at over US $6.1 billion, down 14.6%, while that to other European countries reached nearly US $3.9 billion, up 163%.

Over the past time, Vietnamese exports to Africa have brought about US $750 million, 12% higher than the same period of 2008.

However, the figures for America, Asia, Oceania and ASEAN all dropped. A sharp fall of 50.1% was seen in the Oceanian market.

Việt Nam made the total export turnover of US $41.7 billion in the first 9 months of this year, down 14.3% against the same period last year, reported the MIT.

To boost export in the last quarter of this year, relevant agencies should actively hold training workshops to guide local enterprises to take advantages of the Việt Nam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement which took effect on October 1. Mr. Đỗ Xuân Hạ, vice chairman of the MIT’s Trade Promotion Agency, said at a seminar on October 12 in Hà Nội

He suggested relevant ministries adjust tariffs flexibly, simplify customs procedures, and pilot export credit insurance.
