VNGOVNet – Deputy Foreign Minister, Chair of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyễn Phú Bình recently led a working team to the Russian Federation to learn about the life of the Vietnamese community there after Russia’s introduction of new regulations on immigration.

The team met and talked with leaders of the Society of Vietnamese People in Russia,  representatives of the Vietnamese communities in Moscow and other localities, and heads of some trade centers and retail markets. They also visited some production establishments, markets and shopping centers run by the Vietnamese people in Moscow and Kazan.

Meeting their Vietnamese fellow countrymen, the delegation assured them that the Communist Party, State and people at home always care for the overseas Vietnamese in general and those residing in Russia in particular, hoping the Vietnamese community in Russia to unite and support each other in tough times, obey the new regulations imposed by the host country, and find other ways of doing business to sustain their living in Russia.

Working with Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Agency, the Vietnamese delegation affirmed that Vietnam respects Russia's new regulations on immigration and highly appreciates the Russian administration and people’s sentiments and support to the Vietnamese community in Russia while asking the Russian side to allow the Vietnamese residents time to adjust their business lines.

The Russian side said their new regulations on immigration aims at meeting socio-economic development goals, simplifying administrative procedures and encouraging civilized behaviors in trading. They apply to all, not discriminate against any particular racial community. They said Russia always wants to develop economic and commercial relations with Vietnam to promote the traditional relationship and strategic partnership between the two countries. They also said Russia is willing to discuss and cooperate with Vietnam in dealing with the concerns of Vietnam and the Vietnamese community in Russia relating to their new regulations on immigration.
