Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev held phone talks on December 24.

On the trusted and open spirit, the two PMs reviewed the cooperative situations and expressed their delight on practical outcomes of agreements reached during PM Phuc’s official visit to the Russian Federation in May this year. The two leaders agreed to a number of measures to strengthen the effectiveness of the two nations’ cooperative ties in all spheres.

Both sides were satisfied with the dynamic developments in Viet Nam-Russia relationship through high-ranking visits and meaningful events organized within the Viet Nam Year in Russia and the Russia Year in Viet Nam.

They spoke highly of the active coordination in tackling barriers in the bilateral trade turnover, particularly for farm and aquatic products, making contributions to upholding advantages of the Viet Nam- Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement amid developments in the world’s economic situations.

Regarding oil and gas cooperation, Phuc highlighted that Viet Nam always creates favorable conditions for the two sides’ petroleum enterprises to expand cooperation, including oil exploration and exploitation as well as other sectors such as thermoelectricity, supply of liquefied gas and engine fuel.

Both sides focused on discussing ways to promote the implementation of some crucial projects, including the nuclear science and technology research center.

Other issues referred during the phone call including joint activities on the celebration of the Viet Nam Year in Russia and the Russia Year in Viet Nam in 2020, the 70th founding anniversaries of the diplomatic ties, the 75 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945, the 45th anniversary of Viet Nam’s Independence Day and Viet Nam presiding over the ASEAN Chairmanship.

The occasion, the two PMs conveyed New Year congratulations to their Governments and people.
